A well-know potter avoids military men like the plague, then she meets a hunk painter—an Army man—who will set her body…and her brainwaves…on fire.

Still sheltering quiet contempt for the military after her soldier husband's suspicious death, prolific potter Joni Hammond falls for successful artist Fletcher Maguire. But the painter leads a secret, double life. And the Army is his family. When the couple's pasts collide in the present, surviving the emotional chaos will take more than strength and courage.

After reading some of the reviews about the writing, editing and not liking h, I scrolled on to the next book. What made me go back? I don't know. I ordered it and began reading it. Oh know. People weren't kidding about it being difficult to read. I couldn't put my finger on why, but I know I struggled. But, I kept at it and soon the poetry started to flow MUCH better. I liked everything! I also like the twists to the story and appreciated each and every character. People who didn't like Jonie just didn't understand her. A woman who lost her husband and dealing with so much pain and anger, can become seemingly like one of multiple personalities. Switches and all. Not until one learns to forgive will they begin to heal. That is what H did for her. Helped her to heal. There was even a part my eyes got watery and I don't cry from reading. The ending was exactly what I hoped for. I'm telling you the author thought about everything. Yes the writing and editing could use some polishing, but it shouldn't take away from the story. For those who are anal about editing, get a clue. Not all is afforded the time, money and luck to obtain that perfect tool.

Overall, a GREAT STORY. Gave it a 4 for some of the reading challenges, but would recommend to folks who appreciate substance. Good job Dupree.

Blind Heat edition by Delta Dupree Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This book was bananas!!! It took me the first ten pages to understand the language of the characters but the chemistry between Joni and Fletcher is amazing!!! I love Joni's personality and their language and dialogue is sooo realistic. it reminded me of my relationships with my closest friends. Ya know, those friends that know what you mean with a look or code language. it's code between Joni and Dionne but as the reader we are given and inside look into their satire with each other. LOVE IT!!! A FEW WORDS/ TERMS I LIKE "I'm not jump hateful jump crazy jump silly!!" jump this/ jump that i like that aspect of it!
"i like cream with my champagne the kind that makes the kitty purr!"
"Snatch" and
Hopper! LOL all terms i plan to add to my vocabulary!! Thanks Delta Dupree for the new words
A very good read!! The author gives you vivid images of comedy and drama that keeps your interest until the end. This story shows you that love is indeed blind and full of heat....the love/hate relationship between a strong stern soldier that hides his passion on a canvas and a compassionate potter proves that. Their worlds turned upside down....after 5 years, she was still mourning the loss of her husband while blaming the military and he was mourning the loss of his military brothers while blaming himself. Fletcher fell for Joni "love at first sight" although she tried to commit to what she thought was convenient in another relationship and he vowed not to love again but Fletcher broke her defenses as well as his own. Love (with a little help from family and friends) conquered all with a happy ending.
I purchased and read this book several years ago. I haven't it since but decided to reread because it was a great story. Over the years, I've become a more astute reader and even with the glaring grammactial errors and choppy layout, this was still better than most books out today. Great, instalove between Fletcher and Joni. Their connection is deeper than they know and it leads them on a whirlwind love journey.
Thank god this was free. This could have been good. There was so much potential. But, the story did not have a good flow. It felt choppy. It was never quite clear why the male MC just had to have the female MC or vice versa. I think that could have been detailed better. BUT the most annoying, 'I almost didn't finish detail' was some of the damn diction. It killed this story for me. I do not know one black person, let alone a young black female that says, 'golly, gee whiz, hell's bells, gosh is even pushing it.' Especially if she is trying to be 'sassy', no one says that word either. It took me so out of the story and in 1952 white suburbia I was cringing. Anyway. I didn't like it, a definite skipper.
Mrs. Dupree knows how to write a hot book and she excels at it to the highest degree. I enjoyed this story and anyone looking for a hot read about a no nonsense man and a feisty beautiful woman should download Blind Heat today.

Fletcher, an artist, meets fiery Joni at an art gallery and is immediately attracted to her. Joni on the other hand is put off by Fletcher's attitude towards her, but she can't deny her attraction for him either. They argue and fight then go at each other like animals. Wish I had me a Fletcher right about now.

Warning Spoiler ahead!!

The only thing that didn't seem right was the climax of the story. Where Syl held th he party up, it was a traumatizing experience and everybody goes back to the party after Fletcher saves the day. Who does that!

But all in all a very very good read!!
The story was poorly written, a little scatter brained. It took a while to get into the tempo of the authors writing style, so that you could read the story without confusion. Once you did that, the story flowed better. I gave it 3 stars because the writing and character development could use a lot of work. It seems almost as if the author did not wish to disclose the characters race, but figured out almost 3/4 into the story that it may be a part of the plot. I found that a bit odd. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the plot. If it was written and edited better, it would be a 4 or 5 star read for a romance in my opinion. In the end, I am glad I fought through the book, but I definitely could not reread it. Hopefully it will be edited and redistributed. If the writing style is improved, I also wouldn't mind a follow up of the characters Winston, Mitch, Dionne and Tesanee.
