After the destruction of the Dyson Sphere and six Simulin worlds, the situation in the Triangulum Galaxy calmed down.

But now the Simulins are once more on the move. They’ve rebuilt their fleet and are determined to destroy Gaia and Fleet Admiral Strong’s forces. They will risk everything in a winner take all battle.

Kazak, the Originator AI, is making his own demands. Demands that could weaken Gaia to the point that the planet would be left helpless if the Simulins attack.

In a desperate move, Fleet Admiral Strong takes a daring gambit to save his people. But even the best of strategies can go horribly wrong.

The Lost Fleet Search for the Originators A Slaver Wars Novel eBook Raymond L Weil

Oh my gosh this series so rocks. I've been a fan of this series from the Slaver Wars that introduced us to so many of the characters in the Lost Fleet. Raymond Weil is a force of nature - no seriously he must be 'cause at no time have I ever being bored with any book in this series. His books always guarantee entertainment, adventure, epic battles, great characters and whose content often sees my emotions on a roller-coaster. The Lost Fleet: Search for the Originators was no exception - the epic battle at the end was outstanding and on a level that I had trouble imagining; the scale of that last battle between Admiral Strong's Fleet and the Simulins was.......just mindblowing. There were so many twists and surprises - not the least been the return of some old friends who drop in just when they are needed the most (sorry people, I know I'm been deliberately obscure here but I don't want to give away plot spoilers and ruin the surprise). Looking forward to the next trilogy set in the Lost Fleet/Slaver Wars universe :)

The Lost Fleet Search for the Originators A Slaver Wars Novel eBook Raymond L Weil Reviews

When I saw this book was available I bought it instead of reading for free. I didn't want to return it at some point. Couldn't put it down. Any loose ends were completed for me. I loved the flow of the book. Raymond I don't know how you do it. I enjoy your books and look forward to all your future books!
I have read this series right through from the beginning when I purchased the Slaver Wars 1 - 3 about a month back. I immediately liked Raymond Weil style and his characters, and his ability to connect them all through the ever changing storyline with it's progressive challenges. I will continue to read them until there is no more and then I will probably start them all over again. With his myriad of characters throughout this set of series and more coming in with each novel it has become more than just Military Science Fiction and has developed into a series of top line novels. Any reader who enjoys this genre should purchase the first 3 volumes (it is offered as a set), to see if they get as much pleasure out of them as I have and will continue to have.
Great characters, great tech, and epic space battles against numerous alien races in multiple galaxies, everything space opera junkies crave. My only complaint would be that so far the aliens are all bipedal! Seems that out there somewhere, there must exist alien species with vast minds capable of manipulating multiple appendiges each performing operations independent from each other. That being said, I can't wait to start the next in the series!
The Originators are/were a highly advanced species which almost entirely killed themselves off via a virus they developed to achieve near imortality, but had the opposite effect. A few dozen were put into stasis milenia ago and, it is hoped, can be reanimated when a cure for the virus is found. The Originators left behind some sentient AIs who help humans in their space explorations, which span multiple galaxies via the ability to create worm holes through hyper space. The humans are in a near-perpetual war with yet another highly advanced species whose aim is to eradicate all biological and AI beings in the universe.

A significant portion of the text provides detailed accounts of space battles. Various categories of weapons and battle craft are described, also in detail. If you like such military detail, you should find much to appreciate. In my case, the battles were given WAY too much ink.

There are about a dozen major characters, including humans, AIs, and various other friendly and belligerant species. Minor characters abound. I had some difficulty keeping them straight. In the end it didn't matter.

The book was too long, due mainly to the endless space battles. The other major plot device, the search for a cure to the Originator virus, was pretty interesting.
I have been a big fan of Raymond L Weil since his first book in the Slaver Wars. Unfortunately this is the last book in the series but a follow on series call the Originator Wars will be replacing it. Like all the previous books in the series there is backdrop story line, epic space battles and sorrow. Cameo appearances from characters still in the Milky Way galaxy and new character integration is flawless for continuity of story telling. With each book released the threat to the Human Federation is raised exponentially, from the Hocklyns, AI's, Shari, Simulin, Originators and now the Anti-Life.

If you have not started reading this series do yourself a BIG favor and do it. The only problem with this series is the author writes other titles which makes me wait longer for the next installment.
Although Mr. Weil's "Lost Fleet" and "Slaver" series have been reliably entertaining for some time, my reviews have tended to focus on what I considered to be deficiencies in his writing style. And yet, there has been a gradual, steady improvement that should be acknowledged, and this latest installment represents the peak thus far.

In fairness, most lengthy space opera series tend to tell the same story over and over, making the space fleets bigger and the weapons more destructive as the series goes on, but retaining the structure of Alien Threat That Must Be Defeated. When each threat is eliminated, it turns out that a bigger threat lies just behind it. Mr. Weil has not abandoned this handy device, but the Originators, their AI's, and their Dyson Spheres (introduced earlier) represent something just different enough to spice things up.

"Search" tells the story of the Originators, and also brings to a head the Simulin effort to expel the Humans and their allies from the Triangulum Galaxy. The reader who expects a battle between massive space fleets will not be disappointed. All the characters one has followed in the series are present, and ending points us to an exciting future. This is not an ideal entry point into the series for new readers, but it is the high point IMHO.
